In class last week I found 2 articles, one that was meant for women to read and one that was meant for men to read. They were written VERY VERY differently but I felt the overall message was similar.
The Article meant for women was found in Cosmopolitan Magazine and it was titled "Killer Confidence". The main idea of the article was that you can find ways to make yourself feel confident. Instead of waiting for someone to complement you or tell you that you did a good job there are ways that you can find it on your own. They are not telling you to go out and fish for compliments, that's annoying! but if you put yourself in a situation than you can get the ball rolling on your own, in the article the writer said that once you receive a compliment you are more likely to look out for more and vice verse, if someone is rude to you or your having a bad day the snowball effect works against you. the article was definitely fluffed up for females, instead of being blunt and to the point it leaves open ends where that specific reader can perceive or most likely manipulate the article into saying what they want it to say. This is how female and male writing differs GREATLY!!!!!
In the article taken from Mens Journal I read about the effects aging has on a mans confidence. It covered all aspects from looks, self esteem, confidence, strength, etc. The article was written by an older man form his personal experiences and how he had dealt with getting older. He basically says it sucks! and there isn't anything that you can do about it, but if you dwell in the bad its worse. He says, yea it stinks getting old, no one looks at you like wow he's hott, and none of the guys at the gym are competing with you to lift more weights, but are more likely to ask you if your sure you want to lift that much? You lose your confidence and its hard to get it back once you've begun getting down on yourself, but he brings the more positive things to light like being married, having grand kids, getting a senior discount at stores. The basic gist of the article was to look on the bright side of aging, because there is no turning back!
The stories were similar in that male or female, old or young, everyone struggles with being confident. Although genders may find other ways to be confident and as you age you may need to find other things to be confident about, you still have issues with confidence.

Interesting observation about how being "to the point" might be masculine and being more "mushy" is feminine in writing. WE should all talk about this more.
